The problem

Surprises break budgets

A tight week is only a surprise if nobody looked. The money is fine over the month; it is the Tuesday between rent and payday that stings, and the subscriptions that climb while you are not watching.

How it works

Three steps, a few seconds

01

Add your transactions

Paste a list, upload a CSV from your bank, or start with sample data. Add your current balance and you have a forecast in seconds. Nothing is connected to your bank by default, and nothing here can move money.

Tellwise reads the dozen ways banks format a CSV, including dollar signs, thousands separators, and parenthesised or trailing-DR debits.

A bright, airy white composition of transaction rows settling into a ledger, with a faint violet grid
02

Tellwise learns your patterns

A predictive model finds which charges recur and when, works out your everyday spending and how much it wobbles, and projects your balance forward day by day, with a confidence range that widens the further out it looks.

The numbers are computed in code you could check. A language model only writes the plain-language read around them; it is never handed a figure to invent.

03

Get warned before a tight week

The weeks ahead come back as a clean forecast, with the tight weeks and overdrafts marked on the line, the subscriptions that are creeping up, and the charges that were off your normal pattern, each explained in plain language.

A warning carries the day it lands and what you could do about it, days ahead, while there is still time to move a payment or hold off on something large.

The read

Over the next 6 weeks Tellwise projects your balance to move from $1,950 down to about $1,004. The part to watch is around Aug 17, when the balance is projected to reach -$107. Your recurring bills run about $1,758 a month, and 2 subscriptions are creeping up. This is an estimate from your own history and it can be wrong.

Overdraft around Aug 14

High

On current patterns your balance goes below zero around Aug 14 and bottoms near -$107 on Aug 17. Moving money in before then, or pushing a bill later, avoids the fee.

Plus and Pro

Plain-language explanations

Every warning and flag comes with a sentence a person can act on, grounded in the numbers, never jargon.

Model-agnostic explanations

The forecast is computed in code. A language model writes the read, and Tellwise is not tied to one lab.

How the AI works

Built AI-native

Two models, and we are honest about both

Learning one person’s spending patterns and forecasting them is a genuine machine-learning task, so Tellwise is two AI systems working together. A predictive model over your transaction history produces the forecast, the confidence range, the warnings and the anomalies, all computed in code you could check.

Then a language model explains it: it turns those numbers into a plain-language read and names each warning. It is never handed a figure to invent. On the language side Tellwise is model-agnostic by design, so a lab changing price, policy or quality is a configuration change here, not a rebuild.

Language routing, generated from the code

  • Explain the forecast and name the warnings in plain languagegpt-4.1-mini/balanced
  • Write the one-line read at the top of the forecastgpt-4.1-mini/balanced

The predictive model runs in code, so it is not in this table. Candidate language models from other labs are declared behind the same interface and switch on when their key is present. The fallback chain is on the How the AI works page.

Where we stand

Honest about what a forecast is

This is money you are planning around, so the honesty matters more than the polish. The full stance is on the Care page.

Money information, not advice

Tellwise shows what your own transactions suggest is coming and explains it. It does not tell you what to buy, sell or invest in, and it is not a substitute for a licensed advisor.

A forecast is an estimate

It is built from your past, so it can be wrong, especially when something changes. We show a confidence range, and we say plainly next to every forecast that it can be wrong.

Your financial data is yours

Nothing is connected to your bank by default, and where it is, it is read-only. Your data is encrypted, and you can export or delete it at any time.

Customers

What it saw coming

My income lands whenever clients pay, so I could never tell if a slow week was a problem or nothing. Tellwise showed me the balance dipping to almost nothing the week before an invoice cleared, four days out. I moved a payment and skipped the fee.
Renata AlvarezFreelance designer. Variable income, Phoenix.
I did not think I spent much on subscriptions. Tellwise found six, two of them creeping up, and told me it was $460 a year more than a year ago. I cancelled two in about a minute. It pays for itself many times over.
